This guide helps you start fast — first with the free version, then with Premium. It mirrors the plugin UI you’ll see under AI Auto Post in your WordPress admin.
Getting started with the free version
Follow these steps to generate your first AI draft post using your own AI provider API key.
1) Install and activate
- In WordPress, go to
Plugins→Add Newand install the plugin (or upload the ZIP), then activate.
2) Add an AI provider API key
- Go to
AI Auto Post→Settings(tab label shows asSettingsorAI Settings). - Enter at least one API key:
- OpenAI
- Anthropic
- Gemini
- Choose your default provider and model. Click
Save API Settings.
3) Generate your first draft
- Go to
AI Auto Post→Generate. - Enter a prompt (what you want the AI to write) in
Prompt. - Select
AI Provider(OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) and the model. - Choose
Post Type. - Optional: select a
Link Fieldif you’d like the AI to auto-embed a URL (ideal for directories). Works with standard text fields and ACF (including repeater subfields). - Click
Generate Post. The plugin will create a draft with Gutenberg blocks and save the prompt to your history.
4) Reuse a winning prompt
- In the
Historypanel on the right of theGeneratetab, click a prompt to reuse it.
5) Edit with AI inside the editor
- Open any post or page in the WordPress editor.
- Use the AI chat in the editor sidebar (
AI Editor Assistant) to request edits like “Improve the intro,” “Fix grammar,” or “Make tone more casual.” - The assistant applies edits while preserving Gutenberg formatting.
Troubleshooting
- If you see “API key not configured,” add your provider key under
Settings. - If generation seems slow, just wait – the AI is thinking behind the scenes. If you want it to go faster, simplify the prompt and try again.
- For directory-style content with embedded link to a listing’s site, confirm your ACF
Link Fieldis correctly selected inGenerate.
